COMMON MYTHS ABOUT WEBSITES
A guide to the importance of website creation and reading into the myths of them.
Once Your Website Is Online, You’ll Automatically Attract Visitors
FALSE
The truth is it takes dedication, motivation, and effort to attract views and interaction to a fresh website. The few little tactics I utilize on a regular basis are emails, social media posts, business cards, and of course my blog entries. I try my best to post on my accounts at the very least, every other day!
Only Online Businesses Need a Website
FALSE
The truth is that ALL businesses need websites, period! They provide so much more information than a social media profile can offer. Think of a website as a public portfolio, and one in which you can broadcast every little detail that you want, whereas most social media profiles only allow a certain number of words with each post.
If Your Website Looks Good, You’ll Start Making Sales
FALSE
The truth is while a decent looking website is important, what is more important are the contents of the website. For example, you can’t have a brilliant website that is full of false advertisements with no real purpose and expect to make sales. The website and contents have to be related!
Once Your Website Is Up, the Work Is Done
FALSE
The truth, once again, is that you have to broadcast the site as much as possible if you hope for interaction and traffic. Without social media interaction or email campaigns, your new website will quickly go stale!
Building a Website Is Too Expensive
FALSE
The truth is that, while it can be expensive, it doesn’t have to be. It really depends on how much you know about building websites or who you decide to hire for your business and why. I don’t charge near as much for building websites, for example, in comparison to a corporate business.
You’ll Top the Search Rankings from Day One
FALSE
The truth is that even the notion of this is just not possible, because there are literally billions of websites all around the world. How can anyone expect to jump to the top of the popularity chart from day one?! Logically, it cannot be done!
The More Features, the Better
FALSE
I won’t say this is completely true for everyone, but in my honest opinion, the less features a website has, the better. I feel this way because if come across a site that has a ton of features I get overwhelmed very quickly. View that fact how you will but be careful because I know I am not the only one in the world that gets overwhelmed easily.
