Web Development Q&A
Updated: May 21
As with any career, profession, or trade there are a list of common questions that may, and usually do, enter a person's mind when they hear a certain term that references the profession. Web development is no different, in fact, there are commonly questions that come a lot faster when the profession is technical in nature. It is my hope that I will be able to move forward and write 1 Q&A post a week, give or take. Here are some introductory questions that I have already received within the first few years of this profession.
Q - "What is web development? What exactly do you do?"
A - The dictionary definition of web development refers to the tasks associated with creating, building, and maintaining websites and web applications that run on an online browser. It may, however, also include web design, web programming, and database management.
There are three well-known types of web development:
Front-End Development
Back-End Development
Full Stack Development
Some specific examples of what a web developer builds include: online banking systems, project management tools, social media platforms, and email services!
Q - "What are your rates?"
A - There are four different services that I offer, each with its own rate as follows:
Branding Bundle - A one-time fee of $200 will get you 1 business card, logo, thumbnail, and digital banner.
Fresh Website Build - 1 fully customized, interactive website will cost you $100 per day. The number of days usually vary per business, but you will be given a quote at the end of the consultation meeting.
Website Upkeep - This service refers to daily analytics tracking, website changes, customer engagement, and weekly reports all for the cost of $200 at the start of each week.
Marketing Bundles - $275 at the start of each week will get you 3 ads per week for up to 5 different social media platforms, but please note you are only allowed to 3 groups per platform.
Q - "Is the website fully customized? Fully interactive?"
A - To be perfectly blunt about this, if I am going to spend up to a week to build a website business, YES, I am going to do everything in my power to make sure is fully customized and interactive from front to back!
Q - "Do you maintain the website? If not, how will I know how?"
A - I am more than willing to do website maintenance, as long as I get what I am due at the start of each week. Fixing little mistakes after a fresh website is created is one thing, but full website maintenance is a lot of extra work to do for free. At the same time, I am not going to force weekly payments on someone, so if it is not your wish to pay for weekly maintenance, I will gladly walk you through the process of maintaining a successful website!
Q - "How long does building a website take?"
A - Honestly, the amount of time varies greatly on the business, I have taken as little time as three days, or it has taken as long as a week! The amount of time I need for YOUR business will be determined through the process of the consultation meeting!
